When, being led, a horse attempts to invade my space, I will use the least amount of action that is necessary to keep the horse in his/her space. It might just be a sound, it might be a calm elbow to the chest, then it might be a not so calm elbow to the chest, progressing to a pushing backward on the halter 10 or 15 steps and letting the horse settle....again, the least force that it takes to get the message across....it doesn't take long to tell what that is.
