Why do people keep pursuing worldly attachments, even when it always ends up hurting them?

After our needs are satisfied, we want. We don't hunt for food. We don't build our own shelter. Water comes into our houses and apartments. Our clothes are m produced. The work that needs to be done doesn't take that long. We have too much time to entertain ourselves. So we do.
